SESLOC Spotlight highlights local organizations that make the Central Coast the best place to live.

Today we’re shining the spotlight on the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center, a local nonprofit working hard to keep the performing arts accessible to our community — and especially to our youth. Leann Standish, Executive Director, shares how FPAC has supported local arts for over 30 years:

Foundation for the Performing Arts Center

Industry: Nonprofit

Serving the Central Coast since: 1986

How many employees? 4

How many volunteers? 17

What’s your mission? The mission of the Foundation for the Performing Arts Center is to provide and promote an extraordinary venue for the arts while ensuring that the arts are accessible for our entire community here on the Central California Coast.

What’s unique about FPAC? The Foundation for the Performing Arts Center is part of a truly unique partnership established by the City of San Luis Obispo, Cal Poly, and civic leaders determined to provide exceptional cultural programming for the region.  When first established, the Foundation’s leadership secured nearly $13 million to ensure that the PAC would always be accessible to regional performing arts groups and audiences.  Today, 100,000 people experience the PAC each year — including the Foundation’s beloved School Matinee Program presented by the Harold J Miossi Trust which hosts up to 12,000 students for free each year.

What do you attribute to your success? The Foundation has long been led and supported by an incredible group of civic-minded leaders committed to ensuring that our community, young and old, has the opportunity to see and participate in the arts while connecting more deeply to one another.

What advice would you give someone interested in supporting your mission? Please visit our website at www.fpacslo.org or phone us at 805.541.5401 —  and we can’t wait to gather together at the PAC again soon!
