SESLOC Spotlight

SESLOC Spotlight: Ecologistics

SESLOC Spotlight highlights local organizations that make the Central Coast the best place to live.

Ecologistics is a homegrown nonprofit promoting environmental sustainability through education and community partnerships. Stacey Hunt, CEO, explains how this group of passionate volunteers boosts local conservation efforts:

Ecologistics

Industry: Nonprofit

Serving the Central Coast since: 2010

How many employees? None, all volunteer organization.

How many volunteers? 9 board members + hundreds of volunteers who have helped us at our events over the years.

What’s your mission? To create a resilient and healthy community for the residents of the California Central Coast that is environmentally and economically sustainable.

What’s unique about Ecologistics? We are licensed by Bioneers to put on the annual Central Coast Bioneers Conference for Monterey, San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.  At our conferences, we not only bring attention to nationally-recognized thought leaders in the social justice and environmental movements, but also provide a platform for our local heroes and movers and shakers.

We incubate and support activism by providing fiscal sponsorship for nonprofits who have not yet received their charitable designation by the IRS, which allows them to accept donations for their important work.  We currently have 32 sponsored organizations and that number grows every year.

We host a podcast entitled “Questioning the Status Quo” and have also started a monthly Facebook livestream entitled Ecologistics Presents: Incubation Station, where we spotlight the leaders of our sponsored organizations.

What do you attribute to your success? We not only have very dedicated board members, but an active community which cares about and supports the issues we focus on.  We have an excellent reputation and act as a resource for cross-pollinating among the nonprofit community, connecting groups who can support each other’s missions and efforts.

What advice would you give someone interested in supporting your mission? Please visit our website to see the amazing array of organizations we sponsor, listen to our podcasts, attend our events, sign up to receive our monthly newsletter, and get active in protecting this beautiful place where we live.
